30/10/12WE ARE BACK! The 8 Bendigo Sewing Girls returned to Craftretreat this year with no expectations as we felt they had all been meet last year.
How silly are we!!!!!
The weather was glorious and we came for an extra night!!!!!
The facilities are superb and set up to make anyone who is craft orientated are very happy person. The lighting is fantastic in the sewing room. If you forget any of the basics don't worry they are there and inspiration can hit by just looking at the quilts and craft on the walls. We did forget how well Bev has everything set up, leads, irons, cutters, boards, music, books, sleep inducing couches and the calming atmosphere.
We made time to sit out on the back verandah and enjoy the sunlight, bird life, quilting magazines, absolute peace of the area, some stitching and catching up on each other.
We made a stop at the Quilt Shops in Daylesford and Ballan (anyone knows its not far) and all made the pledge not to spend but as usual, not successful. By early afternoon everyone was set up and running. The welcome plate and meal made it that little bit special.
The extra day gave us time to unwind, enjoy the facility and the area.
Thank you Bev for providing such a high standard of accommodation that would be hard matched.
PS We have rebooked for the third year!!!17th December 2011"We the ' eight fabric ladies of Bendigo ' have been going away together for 4 years. This year we had to find new accomodation for our weekend away to sit, stitch and relax as our retreat at Maldon had been sold.
The website and recommendation decided us to book and give Craft Retreat a try. We were very impressed with the residence and the very large working area (lighting fantastic and powerpoints!!!!!!) and everyone could fit all their projects everywhere. We always take too much and think we are going to achieve more than we do (if we didn't talk, eat or enjoy the environment slight possibility).
The house is set out to the highest standards, the family/kitchen area has everything and make time to sit on the back verandah either for morning coffee or other beverages in the evening, the birds and surroundings will do their work.
We have rebooked for next year and will be booking again and again following that. It is a patchworkers dream.
Bev's customer service is fantastic, prior, staying and after. Thank you Bev.
|Our patchwork group of 9 attended UNO in July and what a wonderful time we had. A retreat where everything was catered for. The homemade soup on arrival was lovely as was the rest of the retreat, beautifully appointed home with lovely relaxing surroundings, comfy beds, lots of craft mags to read, walking distance to eateries. There wasn't anything we needed. Bev came in and met us and then left us to ourselves knowing she was only a phonecall away if we needed anything. The platter of goodies in the fridge was lovely with drinks to start the weekend. Lots of sewing done in a light filled workroom and lots of quality time spent with friends peacefully. Wow!!! what a place. Book us for next year Bev. Can't wait to return.

Our Quilt Friends group of 9 friends had been looking forward to our weekend retreat for some time. We were all very excited to arrive and the “ooohs” and “aaaahs” were out in force as we decided on who would have which bedroom. All the bedrooms are so beautifully setup and extremely comfortable. The kitchen/lounge/dinning area is very well setup and we certainly had everything we could want (or even think we wanted).
The lovely views of the trees and hills was so pretty and relaxing but it was the craft room that really got the thumbs up - it didn’t take us long before we had all claimed a spot and started to sew. The fabulous quilts and craft displayed throughout the house made it very warm and welcoming.
The yummy soup, bread and welcome pack goodies certainly kept us happy all weekend. As did the supplies for breakfast. Hepburn Springs is a great area to be based - we walked to the restaurant for a great dinner (always good to not have to drive). The quilt shops of Daylesford, Castlemaine, Maldon and Ballan were all a very easy (and pretty) drive away.
We were all so thrilled with the weekend (even though we may not have got as much sewing done as there was so much to see and do). I don’t think any of us has laughed as much or for so long as we did this weekend. We are planning our next retreat to the Craft Retreat now and we highly recommend it to anyone - a crafter, quilter or just a group who want a lovely place to stay.

Myself and 5 girlfriends came up to Hepburn, from our local craft group and i have to say that our every need was met and then some!Bev was very helpful and patient with me through out the booking process, and was more then able to provide me with a list or extra things for myself and the girls to do, and yummy places to eat.The facilities in the workshop were second to none, if we thought we needed it, it was there! The lighting was amazing; it meant that even when it was pitch black out side, we could see what we were doing perfectly! The beds were very comfortable; all 6 of us said it had been years since we had had such a good sleep! The only down side was that at the end of our time there we had to leave! While the house and the view were just breath taking, it was the little things that really made the trip. The yummy treats that were left out for us on arrival plus bread and milk in the fridge! And the beautiful pieces of art work through out the house just really made the house feel warm and inviting. We can not wait to go back!!Georgia Cattach (2010)
